Dr. Ben Baglio is a life-long resident of
Long Island. He is a retired school administrator,
and currently teaches as an adjunct faculty member
at Hofstra University. He has two passions;
education and history, as reflected by his two
published works. A String of Pearls was a labor of
love that provides an alternative history to the
events leading up to and including the Japanese
attack on Pearl Harbor. Using revisionist documents,
the books makes a case (albeit fictional) that
explains why the United States was so caught so
unprepared. The Kids Are The Easy Part provides an
explanation as to why school reform has failed, and
what might best be used to find academic success for
today’s kids. They do want to learn and do want to
succeed. The archaic systems and structures are
against them, and are held too dear to policy makers
and stakeholders to easily change.

A novel that makes use of revisionist history to retell the event leading up to and including the attack on Pearl Harbor that ushered entry of the United States into WWII
No Child Left Behind is an utter failure because it relies on present systems and structures to promote change. There’s a better more effective and efficient paradigm that requires a ground-up look at what schools are and what we hope them to be. And it’s not the kids who are to blame!
