Angela Reich

Angela Reich is a resident of Long Island's South Shore, where she serves as docent for New York's historical Fire Island Lighthouse, and sails as crewmember for the Long Island Maritime Museum's 1888 historic oyster sloop, Priscilla.

An independent researcher, she has shared her knowledge of Long Island's maritime history, giving lectures for Fire Island Lighthouse and for various Long Island historical societies.

A Ph.D. in literature, Reich has published articles on literary criticism in professional journals, and a book on John Milton's Paradise Regained. Shipwreck of Hopes is her first novel.

Published Works:

Shipwreck of Hopes

Shipwreck of Hopes sweeps the reader from a desolate New York barrier island, across the Atlantic to war-torn Italy to tell a story of shipwreck, deception, thievery, and murder on treacherous seas, in bloody revolution, and on an isolated shore. Drawing inventively on the lives that converged with the fate of the ship Elizabeth in 1850, the novel goes beyond biography to reveal the harrowing journeys of those involved on that desperate day. Published 2018.
